About Atlas of Feels

Atlas of Feels is a real-time map of human emotion. People around the world share how they feel, and their emotions appear as glowing lights on a 3D globe — creating a living, breathing visualization of collective mood.

How it works

  1. Share a feeling — Choose an emotion and write a short message
  2. See the globe light up — Your feeling appears as a glowing dot at your approximate location
  3. Watch the world feel — See patterns emerge as thousands of emotions flow across the globe

Our mission

We believe that understanding how the world feels can lead to greater empathy and insight. Atlas of Feels aims to:

  • Visualize collective emotion in real-time
  • Support academic research on how world events affect population mood
  • Create a space for authentic emotional expression

Privacy by design

Your privacy is fundamental to our design:

  • Approximate location only — coordinates are fuzzy to ~1km, never precise
  • Feelings are ephemeral — individual posts disappear from the globe after 24 hours
  • Anonymized trends — we retain only aggregated mood data for research, never linked to individuals
  • No tracking, no ads — your data is not sold or used for advertising

Research

We partner with universities and research institutions studying collective emotion and how world events influence population mood. All research data is anonymized and aggregated — individual feelings are never shared.

Funding & future

Atlas of Feels is currently free and always ad-free. We believe emotional expression on the internet should be private — your data is never sold or used for marketing.

To sustain development, we plan to introduce an optional subscription for premium features in the future. This depends on how things go. We will never compromise your privacy to fund the platform.
